Nike+ FuelBand
I’ve been using the Nike+ FuelBand for four days now, and it feels pretty damn cool.
It’s still the early days of the service, so there are not a ton of ways to leverage the data that can be harvested from the band, but it feels promising.
Design wise, the FuelBand is very comfortable and the materials feel modern. I have some hesitation about how it would feel to wear while playing basketball, or a more contact sport. But for running, walking and training, it feels like a perfect fit.
I’m a big believer in the intersection of sports and tech. With how fast tech has evolved in the past three years, I think the potential to enhance sports with technology is an important space to give attention to. Thus far technology has been geared towards virtual worlds and vast databases. But to drop a piece of wearable technology directly into the battlefield of sports, feels damn significant.
There are all sorts of things I want to be able to track in sports. Professional athletes have had those tools available for years now. But Nike is the first company to mass distribute this kind of tool.
I can’t wait to see where Digital Sports take us next.
